I have never considered making digital art real art. Although it most certainly is, I just need to have that hands on, paint under my nails or fabric and thread running through my fingers to feel like I'm really making something. But sit me at my computer with a few (or 100) photos and Photoshop and I get hooked. It feels wrong though, like I'm wasting time, being bad, slacking off. But that's because it all feels like PLAY. And the puritanical work ethic angel (devil?) sitting on my left shoulder thinks it's a bad waste of time. Fortunately, the art angel is there on the right shoulder and when I tilt my head just so, she whispers, "Beautiful work. Keep it up. You know this is art and art comes from play, so go ahead and play." So that's what I've done. I have Judy Coates Perez to blame thank for my latest obsession. She's been playing around with photos and vintage camera lens effects too. Admittedly, I've only done this one, but there will be more. Yes, there will be more. I predict/plan/am determined to spend the winter holed up in my studio making wonderful art with all the ideas/techniques/materials I've been collecting all year.
Here's the next photo I want to alter - Riley, behind the curtain, gazing out the window.
I have yet to update my website with the classes I'm teaching next year, so I thought I'd start to mention them here until I can get everything squared away.

OK, I feel better now – there's now some ART on the blog.
