A New Beginning + A Book Giveaway

Not that there's any comparison between the magnitude of what happened yesterday, but I must share my personal delight with you. What do President Obama and my new book, Fabulous Fabric Art with Lutradur, have in common? They both became official at noon yestesterday. You see, my author copies of the book arrived by FexEx at the exact moment President Obama was being sworn in.

So to celebrate both events, I'm giving away a copy – no make that 3 copies! Just leave me a comment and you'll be entered in the drawing which will take place on Tuesday January 27th at noon EST – exactly a week after our new President and my new book came into my life.

The materials that yu mentioned above are new to me but I am excited to hear that a transfer can be made onto wood. I hope that the process is covered in your new book. The heat tool in the picture, does it cut paper and fabric also? Congratulations on your new book. I hope I win.

  17. Oooh! Finally! I think that here’s a printing process that I might be able to do. I’m looking forward to getting your new book, whether I win it or not….I’ve always been confused by Lutradur (and no one in my group uses it but one and she’s not explained it well). I’ve always had trouble printing anything on my computer other than REAL computer paper and overhead projector transfers, so just maybe I’ll be able to do this. Thanks!

  64. Congratulations! The book looks yummy.
    My family and I decided to attempt the Inauguration and ended up on a half empty Metrobus from Falls Church to the Lincoln Memorial. We stood in the middle of the WWII Memorial and watched on jumbo-trons with the Capital just visible in the distance. It was fantastic to be there but I think Obama is such a transformational leader that watching it on television sent the same emotional vibe of hope out into the world. We all felt it wherever we were.

    I have Lutradur but have not used it extensively. I have primed it with inkAID and printed on my Epson 2200 for a lovely image.

    I was laughing reading your post about the “crowd thing”. That is so me…I hate crowds…would never be caught shopping at Christmas at the last minute.   179. Ah, Lutradur…yes, I love it! My first experience with this fabulous fiber was at the first Art & Soul Retreat at beautiful Asilomar, CA a few years ago. I spent 3 lovely days in classes with Lesley. One day I found myself sitting outdoors, enjoying the beauty of the surroundings; with a hot, pointed soldering iron and some Lutradur that Lesley had just introduced us to. As I “carved” designs and experimented with how the fabric reacted to the application of heat, I think I felt just like a kid feels when they first discover the wonders of a totally brand new experience! Congrats on the new book, and to our new President…best wishes to all!!
