Head chatter while headed to the grocery store:
“It’s 2 o’clock already? I better hurry and get to the store, get the veggies and hurry back to finish the soup. It’s already so late in the day. Hurry home, simmer the soup. Get to the studio. No, maybe finish class prep. But I want to read. And there’s the taxes…there’s just not enough time in the day. And it’s supposed to snow tonight. I need sunshine. Sunshine will make it all better. No, wait, I’m supposed to be in the present moment……”
Substituted mindfulness:
“I am here, now, in the car on my way to choose some lovely fresh vegetables for the homemade soup my daughter requested while home on spring break. This is a moment to cherish. This is what is important. This is what I enjoy. It is not a task to be hurried through.”

Wonderful post and something that I’m always trying to remember. It’s tough not to get caught up in it though! I get so caught up in my to-do lists and the shuttling of my kids here and there and laundry, and cleaning, etc. But then there are the moments where my vision clears and I see two wonderful little humans in front of me and how lucky I am to be there with them and how lucky I am to also somehow to keep creating my art.

It has really helped my daughter whose husband travels a lot and leaves her home with a 1 and 5 year old. Present time! Looking forward to October, Bridgette!

I’ve been working on this for about a year. It gets easier but I still have my lapses. Just keep plugging away…it worth yet!!

It’s SO easy for my, but it’s only Day 5. Good to hear that it can last. I think we will always lapse, but the good part is that we now know better!

And the scenery there is breathtaking – no matter what season! I love that part of the country – hope you enjoy making the soup:)

Soup is simmering and smells divine. And we will break bread. Since it’s supposed to snow tonite it’s a snuggly winter meal three days before the official start of spring.
