Blue Mountain Creations
with Roxanne Stout
October 15-20 , 2025
An abundance of inspiration waiting for you….
Your own creativity is calling to you! The combination of nature and art will enchant you at Blue Mountains Creations with Roxanne in the Autumn. Imagine waking up in the morning to the sounds of nature in the beautiful blue mountains: the songbirds, the wind whispering through the pine trees. Many of our projects involve observing nature and walking to collect and gather. Besides the fun of collecting beautiful natural objects, this gives us a sense of place and feeling of belonging. You might even see a bluebird!
We will begin by making an art journal.we will spend part of every morning sketching and writing outside! Our main art project will be to create a wall hanging or tapestry, simply made of fabrics and papers - that could hang up vertically or placed horizontally on a cabinet or shelf as an artist book. This piece will be added to throughout our time together with collage and stitching, finally to be bound using sticks and other natural elements, gathered in the forest or by the river and along the pathways.
We will also spend time glazing fabrics to create beautiful colored pieces, mark making on vintage paper, making unique bundles to hang, and sewing a smaller fabric scroll. All the stitches I present are very easy and playful!
During our time together we will construct a small assemblage of natural or found objects. We will decorate this by wrapping foraged elements with thread, wire and small treasures.
I cannot wait to work and play with you at the Red Thread Retreat in in the Blue Mountains.
