We joke about R&R abound here because those are also the initials of our real estate company, Riley & Riley Associates. But when I refer to R&R, I always mean the other kind – rest and recouperation aka relaxation and recreation. I have been in dire need of some. My absence from this blog is evidence that my time is not my own that my days are filled to the brim with way too many things and none of it is ART.
So when I arrived at the Hudson River Valley Art Workshop 1889 Inn and Kim (innkeeper extraordinaire along with her husband Mark) opened the door to my room, the South Cottage, I knew this was where I was meant to be for the weekend. Leaving home was hard. I wasn't sure I would be able to shift from my recent mindset to my art mind and zen teaching persona.
But the Universe knew what I needed and it was all presented to me this past weekend. My class of 5 was just the right size to ease me back into teaching and the loving and giving women who comprised the class nourished my soul as I nourished their artistic minds. We spent 3 perfect days (in spite of the rain on Saturday) creating friendships and books and reaquainting ourselves with the knowledge that taking time for oneself is of the utmost importance. This is probably the silliest I have looked in a long time, but it's the only non-blurry photo I have of us all and hey – you all know I have eyes and doesn't everyone else look great?
I won't bore you with everything that has been going on at the old and the new house – all good – just busy. The old house went on the market this past weekend and we have 4 contracts being submitted today, so that's all good too. School started, Kelly made the field hockey team, babies are walkin' (almost) and talkin' and I'm slowly easing setting up my studio and looking forward to a return to normalcy – but then again, what is normal with all these changes? I owe you all a long overdue giveaway drawing and I have many things to offer for sale, things that I held back or that didn't sell at the VERY successful estate/art/moving sale. So please stay tuned! More giveaways and goodies to come. I promise. 🙂
